TESTIMONIES AND RECOGNITION

CAID´s project is conceived as a space with no barriers and of selfprogress, it is a relaxing place where we satisfy our patients rehabilitation needs in a resting and recreative place.

The rehabilitation field has been restructured in such a way that we do not institutionalize people with disabilities but in order to let them feel in a recreative environment that benefits the execution of the programs with positive results. In other words people with disabilities should not be considered as "sick" people that need a cure, but as people that need support in order to find their talents and potential.

RECOGNITION

Some of the recognition we have received are the following:

• Social Merit Medal granted in June 1988 by the Social Welfare Ministry.
• Award granted by the Social Welfare Ministry's Board of Child Protection on 1988.
• "World leadership help to Human Beings" granted by the International Junior Chamber in November 1990.
• "Clearence Moore" award granted by the Health Panamerican Organization and the World Health Organization in April 1993 due to the support we have brought to several health matters.
• On 1988 Hermano Miguel Foundation took part along with other important institutions on the 180 disabilities statutes reform.
• In September 1998 Hermano Miguel Foundation became Vice president of the group of Non Government Organizations on Disabilities matters.
• Hermano Miguel Foundation is a member of the Health Non Government Organizations Board of Directors
• "Duende Soñador" award granted by Ecuador's National Congress on 1999 for all the work done to help people with disabilities
